Dear Friends,

During the past six years, the support you have shown for our community of "Soda Activists" has been nothing short of amazing. Because of your efforts and enthusiasm, SaveSURGE.org, and later on VaultKicks.org, gained national notoriety and made Coca-Cola take notice of what we were doing.

I write to you today with a tear in my eye, because as of this writing I am officially retiring from "Soda Activism". As you all know, our lives change as the years go by. I am no exception. With my family and work commitments such as they are, I found that I am now in a different place in my life. In recent months I have found that I just do not have the time required to tend to the websites as much as they deserve.

And so I feel it is time for me to move on. I can't even express the amount of gratitude I feel towards each of you. This community has allowed me to do things I never would have dreamed possible. I'm 100% convinced that Vault's existence is a direct result of your tremendous efforts.

My hope is that, in some small way, our community helped some of its members realize the importance of working together. Whether it's for peace, the planet or even a fully loaded citrus soda (with carbos). Remember that standing up for what you believe in, no matter what it is, is always worth your while.

Thank you all from the very bottom of my heart. I will never forget this wild ride and what we did together.

Forever Grateful,

Eric Karkovack

P.S. - Just because I've decided to step aside doesn't mean these sites should go away. If you're seriously interested in taking over one or both websites, please contact me. Again, serious inquiries only.

This past week, someone on the message board reported that Vault Icees were available at Target. In fall 2006, a similar post was made about Mountain Dew Icees at Target. A couple of days later, I checked my Target out, and sure enough: there were Mountain Dew Icees. Hoping the same was true for Vault, I checked out my Target, and low and behold: IT WAS! There are officially Vault Icees at Target. I refilled mine twice the 2nd time I went :) Several other people are reporting Vault Icee sightings at Target, so if you haven't checked yet: get out there and check!

Troy's Surge vs Vault Taste Test

The 2 GREATEST DRINKS EVER, SIDE BY SIDE!!!

The Scent:

Well, I don't see how in some past reviews of Vault & Surge, they say, that they smell exactly the same, Because They DO NOT Smell The Same. Not that Surge doesn't smell terrificly awesome, because it does, but still. Vault has more of a citrusy scent that you would expect from a citrus soda, but Surge has a fruity type scent and doesnt smell like citrus. But, I like the Surge scent better than Vault's scent.

The Expiration Dates:
Surge = August 28, 2000
Vault = August 27, 2007

Thats odd, Only one day away Vault, 7 years later.

Into The Cups:

Well, when I first cracked open the Surge as I've said in a recent post that my dad & I were going to have a trip down memory lane because he loved Surge as much as I did & what was left was going to be for the taste test. Well, he had his bit which was maybe 2 oz. & I drank a tiny bit when we did our cheers to SURGE, so I could have a lot left for the review, and the Surge really looked light light green, but then for the taste test and when I took this picture the Surge turned really green. ODD!

The Taste Test:
First, I'll say this, The Surge tasted really FRESH! but then again, I haven't tasted Surge since probably 2002, and really don't remember much, just that it was my favorite soda growing up and that it was smooth.

The SURGE:

Well, it tasted kind of like Vault, about 90% and now everytime I drink a Vault, it'll remind me of Surge. Not that I didn't think about Surge everytime I drank a Vault, but I mean now I can think of the taste too.

It didn't have as much citrusy taste as Vault, more fruity but very delicious and didn't leave a bad after taste like Vault.

The Vault:

Vault is way more bite than Surge, and Vault also has more citrus taste. But, I can't decide which is better, Vault or Surge, now I know most of you would pick Surge, but, there were many different things different in both sodas that were terrific.

Vault Or Surge:
Well, I think I'm going with Vault, why? Because Vault is what it is. Vault is terrific and a wonderful drink that will always remind me of my childhood and why I pick Vault most of all, is because it will always NOW remind me of Surge and will bring back all the good memories and I won't be able to get Surge like I get Vault, because Vault is everywhere. Vault will always remind me of Surge and Surge will bring back AWESOME memories, of me pretending I was Surge man (THAT I REMEMBER, LOL) & me screaming SSSSUUUURRRRGGGEEEE!!!! at the top of my lungs, I also remember doing that. And I SWEAR, when I was little I used to say, If i have a kid and it's a boy, "I'm Naming It SURGE". So I PICK VAULT!

AfterTaste:
Vault = Vault has a very strange and not really the greatest tasting after taste but I still love it.
Surge = Surge had a tremendous after taste.

After The Taste test:

After I drank the Surge, I did a LOUD SURGE SCREAM!!!

I went to my gas station, and saw a cooler full of VAULT RED BLITZ next to the door with the Chug & Charge sticker on it, so I don't have to walk all the way across the store to get my VAULT RED BLITZ! lol. But the owner was wearing a VAULT RED BLITZ hat, and I said "Whoa! NICE HAT!" and he replied "Oh, I got like 2 more and some shirts". So I got a VAULT RED BLITZ shirt AND hat!! It's awesome!

Silence Without Skies Gets By With Vault

I've been a loyal Coca-Cola drinker my whole life, that's why I was so greatly pleased when they released Vault into the market. It is one of the best tasting, addicting, and energy giving drinks out there in the market. That's why my band, Silence Without Skies, has made Vault their official drink for the last year now. Nothing can get my drummer and singer more pumped that a 20 oz Vault before a concert and it is nothing to see empty 2 litter bottles laying around all the equipment. We look forward to getting our chance to try out the brand new Vault Red Blitz and we hope it has just all the rush of Vault with a kickin' new twist on the taste.

Well, after searching for over a week now, I finally spot the drink I've been hearing so much about! Love the new taste for Vault! RED BLITZ has definately won THE spot for my childlike red mustache!! It's great stuff, but doesn't stand a chance winning over VAULT the original.
But definitely keep em coming! Good luck to Red Blitz!

Finally, Red Blitz comes to my town! With all of the great letters we've been getting from Vault fans, I kinda felt like the last kid on the block without an Atari 2600 (yeah, I'm old). But today was the day! Thank you Sunoco station for being the first place in my area to have it.

The Review
They say on the label that Vault Red Blitz is "Berry Injected" and as I first opened the bottle, I found out that they weren't lyin'! The scent reminded me some sort of berry-flavored candy. As I started to drink, it hit me: This stuff tastes very similar to one of my all-time favorite candies, Luden's. As a kid I used to eat them up like crazy and I have a feeling I'll be doing the same thing now with Red Blitz! Maybe I'm going to head back to the gas station to see if they have any of that candy too...

Now, there's been talk by some people that VRB is actually better than the original Vault. I don't know that I'm in a position to decide. The original, of course, is SURGE 2.0 and in my mind nothing can really take the place of it. I've dedicated over five years of my life to SURGE (and now Vault) so it's probably hard-wired into my head that I will be a Vault drinker for the rest of my life.

To me, Vault Red Blitz is just a great tasting soda. I'll be very happy to drink tons of it. Though I don't feel like it will beat the original, no one said it had to. It's just an outstanding alternative when I need to be berry injected!

I called my local bottler today and he told me that they just stocked VRB last night! I left work to go pick some up at my Wal-Mart, and they had them for .75 cents each! I have to say, Vault Red Blitz is AMAZING. It reminds me of Hawaian Punch, with a pinch of Vault in it. Truly wonderful drink. Of course, the original Vault owns the high ground, but Vault Red Blitz is a truly great addition to the Vault brand. It definitely owns the high ground over Mountain Dew Code Red :)
